WHO WE ARE

Mission – For God’s glory in this generation

Calling – We the Agapé Mission Church are called to be a worshipping body of believers who desire to conform to the image of Jesus Christ as we respond to his unfailing love. As we are being transformed by the Word of God, and as the Holy Spirit empowers all to minister, we seek to build discipleship relationships and practice the unconditional love of God. We are called and committed to share the Good News to all.

Worship Celebration – In His presence, we greet one another. God calls us to worship and we obey. We worship Him with songs, psalms, and prayer. In Jesus Christ, we receive God’s grace and mercy as we confess our sins. God’s faithfulness and sovereignty cause us to give thanks. In the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, we welcome newcomers, into fellowship. In Response to His grace and blessing, we offer our lives and finances and hear church concerns. God’s word is proclaimed, and we receive in joy, obedience, gratitude and commitment. As the Holy Spirit empowers and guides, we minister and bless one another. We live out our calling to worship God moment by moment in all our activities.

Receiving and Sharing God’s Love – We grow together in Christ, from Dive In Groups: Meeting Jesus in relational settings; Set Free Conferences: A weekend of experiencing the Holy Spirit); Teaching sessions on living the abundant life; and Sessions on receiving the call to live a radical lifestyle of love.

Ministry and Fellowship – After meeting Jesus and experiencing his love through Dive In groups, SET Free Conference, we continue our Christian growth in small groups and fellowship ministries. We refine our calling, character and ministry effectiveness in our Father’s grace and love. We serve the body of Christ through various activities and also proclaim the Good news to our friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Study of the Word and Prayer – We love to study the Word of God through messages, conferences and occasional graduate level courses. We also love to pray. There are many opportunities to do so, including morning prayers, all-night prayers, and other scheduled and unscheduled prayer meetings.

Church Planting and Missions – Our ultimate task of evangelism is carried out in the planting churches for our generation in this culture and in other cultures. To this end, we commit ourselves to be trained in teams to be sent out.

OUR STORY IN HIS STORY

Our history began in 1985 when we started a campus ministry at the University of Maryland, College Park. This was the precursor to our current college ministries, which now affect the lives of the students in ten different colleges and universities.

In spring of 1994, the servant leaders of the ministry sensed God's call to gather as a church. After much prayer to seek God's will, we started to meet in a lecture hall at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County campus in August 1994.

With an increased awareness of God's call to minister to our communities, we relocated our corporate worship place to Columbia, Maryland in 1996. In summer of 2002, we moved to our current building, the Agapé Ministry Center in Elkridge, Maryland (located between Baltimore and Washington D.C.).

We have fellowship and ministry groups in Columbia, Baltimore and Washington D.C. for singles, couples and families with children and youths. We also minister to college students in many universities and colleges in the Washington-Baltimore metro area.

Over the years our commitment to minister to this generation led to the planting of Agapé Life Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Agapé Harvest Church in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, Ecclesia Paris in Paris, France, and most recently, Ecclesia NYC in Manhattan/New York City.

We are an independent church, evangelical in our theological stance with openness to the Holy Spirit’s leading. We come together to passionately worship God with all those who are followers of Christ. It is our calling and desire to live and proclaim the Word of God.

CONNECT

We have fellowship and ministry groups for singles, couples, families with children, youths, and college students. We meet regularly in smaller groups to read the Bible, pray and share our lives together. During these times, God's grace draws us into genuine friendship and community.
